Oil industry Web sites were reporting that as of Wednesday at least three offshore rigs known as jackups remain missing and are presumed to be total losses and at least one deep-water production system sustained damage to its drilling package from last week's Hurricane Ike.
Among the Category 2 hurricane's casualties was a rig that remained missing in the Gulf of Mexico despite having been equipped with a global positioning system.
